With the Ford Ranger taking center stage it seems time for the Ford Motor Company to go all Out Ford Bronco with it for the midsize truck buyer. And that is just what they are doing in 2021. Ford has just announced they have taken the Ranger to a new level. making it the most off-road-capable factory-built Ranger ever offered with the Ranger Tremor Off Road Package for 2021.
You may recall how much we enjoyed our time in a rental Ford Ranger during last years trip to the Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance in September of 2019. We are excited to share with you this preview of the 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor an off-road capable – rock crawling – Built Ford Tough midsize pickup truck.
Ford knows that their customers like to do more than just mall crawl in their trucks. And this new Tremor Off Road Package adds a level of all-terrain capability wit out losing Ranger’s everyday drivability payload or towing capacity.
Here is what we have learned about Ford’s 2021 Ranger Tremor Package:
Let’s talk specifics:
Tremor maintains Ranger’s utility with a smooth, comfortable on-road ride, 1,430-pound maximum payload and available 7,500-pound maximum towing capacity, The Tremor comes with the proven 2.3-liter EcoBoost® engine with 270 horsepower and best-in-class torque of 310 lb.-ft., paired to a class-exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission and standard 4×4 with electronic locking rear differential.
Lifted Suspension, Fox Shocks and 32-Inch Tires
Ranger Tremor starts with a lifted suspension, complete with tuned Fox dampers and rear piggy back reservoirs. Redesigned front knuckles combined with the 32-inch tires to deliver 9.7 inches of ground clearance – 0.8 inches more than the base Ranger Super Crew 4×4. In addition, the Tremor package takes on a 1-inch wider profile stance with the Tremor-specific 32 inch General Grabber All terrain tires and wider wheel lip moldings.
Tremor boosts Ranger’s off-road metrics, including a 30.9-degree approach angle, up 2.2 degrees from the base Super Crew 4×4, a 25.5-degree departure angle, which is up 0.1 degrees and a 24.2-degree breakover angle, up 2.7 degrees.
Add to that – FOX™ 2.0 monotube dampers with remote rear reservoirs and hydraulic rebound stops are tuned for a comfortable ride on pavement. And more importantly complete control over severe terrain. The Fox shocks are specially tuned with progressive rebound end zone damping to support vehicle control.
Front and rear springs are tuned for greater off-road composure. A multi-leaf rear spring setup enables increased wheel travel. Anti-roll bar stiffness has been reduced to minimize disruption over rough terrain and improve comfort off-road.
Ranger Tremor includes a frame-mounted steel front bash plate and underbody skid plates, rear locking differential, Terrain Management System™ with four distinct drive modes and Trail Control™. Tremor’s traction control system is recalibrated for improved acceleration and traction in gravel.

Ford Ranger Tremor has specific styling features inside and out. The grille features a Magnetic-painted surround with black bars running across the middle and red nostril accents in the corners. New hoop steps give Ranger Tremor additional functionality without sacrificing ground clearance. Special badging comes on both sides of the cargo box, and an optional hood and body graphics package adds extra personalization.
The Interior is Tough and Good Looking
The interior is as tough as it is good looking, with Miko suede inserts and “Tremor” stitched into the seatbacks, as well as black accents. With the addition of Tremor’s six-switch auxiliary power bank mounted to the dash with rated loads of 25 amps, 15 amps and 10 amps, plus three switches at 5 amps. You can run a lot of accessories like winches, and lights.
The Tremor Off-Road Package is available on mid XLT and high Lariat series 2021 Ranger trucks with SuperCrew 4×4 configuration. Package pricing is $4,290 MSRP. This Ford Ranger Tremor Off-Road Package will be built at Wayne Michigan Assembly Plant with production slated to begin early next year.
